About Us
About the South Carolina Council for Exceptional Children
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.
CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

SCCEC is a collaborative community of professionals who are the voice and vision of special education in South Carolina.
Our mission is to improve the educational outcomes and quality of life of individuals with exceptionalities and their families through the actions of professionals, advocates, and other agencies.

SCCEC is a collaborative group of diverse professionals who provide leadership in:
advocating for students with exceptionalities at a local, state, and national level.
providing high quality professional development to individuals who serve students with exceptionalities.
supporting and providing guidance to SCCEC chapters and subdivisions.
collaborating with South Carolina State Department of Education and local education agencies that provide services to students with exceptionalities.
